Khajjiar is in Chamba district and just 24 kilometers away from Dalhousie. It is another popular hill station that is tuck at an altitude of 2,000 meters. It is a small plateau which also has a small lake which is one of the most favor tourist spots in this town.

Its surround by green meadow and dense forest and known for beautiful temples. However, the way to Khajjiar can be close sometimes during winters because of heavy snowfall.

Mini Switzerland

Due to its topographical resemblance with Switzerland, it is often called the’ Mini Switzerland’ of India. This saucer shaped green meadow is engulfed by Deodar trees and has a lake in the middle. On July 7, 1992, Khajjiar was called the ‘mini Switzerland’ by the then Vice-Counsellor and Head of the Chancery of Switzerland in India, Willy Blazer. He also put a sign board which showed the distance between Khajjiar and Swiss capital-Bern. He took a stone from Khajjiar to install in the stone collage around the Swiss Parliament to constantly remind people of Khajjiar as the ‘Mini Switzerland’.
