Kalatop Khajjiar Sanctuary
Kalatop Khajjiar Sanctuary is a 30.69 km² animal sanctuary at Kalatop and Khajjiar in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, India. The sanctuary area is well laid out for trekking trails both at Kalatop and Khajjiar. There is a dense deodar and fir forest covering 19.63 km² of the sanctuary, which is about 6 km from Dalhousie. Pheasants, serow and black bear are some of common animals see here. The Kalatop Khajjiar sanctuary lies in the path of the Ravi River, and is surrounded by coniferous and oak forests.

The best way to experience the beauty of this place is by trekking and hiking. There are two trekking trails at Khajjiar and Kalatop. A guide is must especially after dusk. Visitors can also go for a wildlife safari in the sanctuary. There are 5 holiday homes inside this sanctuary area which provide accommodation facilities to the visitors.
There is a check point at Lakkar Mandi from where the forest rest house is a further 3 km and the road takes through beautiful deodar forests. Prior permission required from District Forest Officer (DFO), Chamba for the Rest House & vehicle entry. Need to book your accommodation in advance in order to stay at the rest house.
The best time to visit the sanctuary is from March to May and September to November.
